Is the pressure now on McDonald’s to deep six its long standing icon Ronald McDonald a sign of things to come for other food marketing icons that targe kids? The consumer watchdog group, Corporate Accountability International, initiated an effort to get more than 550 health professionals and organizations to sign a letter to McDonald’s asking them to stop marketing junk food to kids and retire Ronald McDonald. No doubt, companies that market to kids are in the spotlight now more than ever. So here’s a head’s up to Punchy!, Aunt Jemimah, Mrs. Butterworth, Captain Crunch, Chef Boyardee and even the Jolly Green Giant! – Rich
