A new government study is examining the effects of two popular dietary supplements - Vitamin D and fish oil. The goal is to evaluate whether the supplements reduce the risk of getting cancer, heart disease or stroke. Hold on to your hats. Recently, vitamins C, E, folic acid, beta carotene and selenium supplements were thought to lower the risk of cancer or heart disease — until tests indicated risks not benefits. For now, I’d give the green light to consumers who opt for foods containing these nutrients and food companies who are using them to fortify their products. – Rich
